St Lucia Attractions

St Lucia offers something for everyone – you will not run out of things to do, even if you live on the island. Here is a comprehensive and unbiased list of st lucia attractions and activities, with links to individual websites, Facebook pages or local tour providers. Some st lucia attractions can be visited as part of an organized tour, some are best located privately by rental car, and some tours and activities may need to be arranged in advance. To make the most of your stay, we suggest: Do at least one rainforest trail and one waterfall, see the Pitons up close (the Tet Paul trail is the best way to do it without climbing the Pitons), go on a boat ride, visit a historic plantation and sample the local restaurants and street food. The snorkeling and diving is also good, and if you can afford it, the helicopter rides are amazing!

We hope you enjoy your stay on our beautiful island!

St Lucia Waterfalls & Hot Springs

Most waterfalls and hot springs are in and around Soufriere:

Sapphire Falls, at the entrance of the Sulphur Springs volcano in Soufriere, a 40 minute hike to a beautiful warm waterfall in a forest, with a man-made “hot tub” and natural mud and clap packs. Call ahead to arrange – family run by Jahrod and his brother. Read or write a review

Tanzanite heights or Superman Falls, also at the entrance  Sulphur Springs, a 30 minute hike to a very tall waterfall and shallow mineral pool. Read or Write a review

Outside of Soufriere, there is the Saltibus Waterfall, the Fond Joyeux Waterfall near Vieux Fort, Fond Waterfall on the East Coast, and River Rock and Canaries Waterfall on the West Coast. Do not try to find these on your own, ask at your hotel how to get a local guide or book a tour.

Latille Waterfall on the East Coast is easily accessible by rental car, and offers a lovely deep pool for swimming and a friendly and knowledgeable owner who gets his electricity from a hydro system.

Hiking Trails & Viewing points

Tet Paul Nature Trail in Soufriere is one of our favorite st lucia attractions and we think everyone should visit it (well, not everyone, or else it would get too crowded) 🙂 It is an easy 40 minute walk with magnificent views of the Pitons and the South of the island.

The Gros Piton and Petit Piton trails must be done with an official guide and cost US$ 35 – 50 per person. Both take around 4-5 hours round trip with stops, but Petit Piton is a bit more challenging because there are some very steep areas where you have to hang onto ropes or trees. The Gros Piton has a trail with steps almost all the way, but you will feel your legs the next day if you’re not someone who exercises daily. Both are well worth the trip! Contact the Tourguide Association directly: grospitontours@candw.lc, Tel: 1(758) 459-9748 or 459-9748 or 489-0136

There are great views all throughout the island, but if you’re staying in the south, check out the Moule a Chique View point & Lighthouse in Vieux Fort and the Morne le Blanc View point in Laborie.

Rainforest trails

The St Lucia Forestry Department maintains the following trails within the islands protected forest reserve. You must call ahead to schedule a tour with an official guide. The trails range from moderate to challenging, don’t miss out on this unique st lucia attraction!

St Lucia Attractions – Wildlife

Bird watching can be done through the Forestry Department or with individual tour companies like Rainforest Adventures. There are also special birding vacations offered through various companies.

The best Whale and Dolphin Watching is offered by Mystic Man Tours in Soufriere or Captain Mike in the North of the island.

Turtle watching at Grande Anse beach by the Desbarras community is offered certain times of the year, inquire through St. Lucia Heritage Tours.

There is a Mini-zoo at the Union Forestry office, where you can see the St Lucia parrot, a Boa, and Agouti, and some tortoises.

The Maria Islands nature reserve managed by the St. Lucia National Trust offers selected tours to this sensitive small island, home to two endemic species found nowhere else, the coulesse snake and the Zandoli lizard.

St Lucia Water sports

The best diving and snorkeling is around Soufriere, near the Pitons. You can snorkel right off the beach and see reef fish and some coral, if you’re lucky perhaps a sea turtle. There are three dive operators in Soufriere: Action Adventure and Scuba Steve’s, the dive center at Sugar beach resort, and Scuba St Lucia at the Anse Chastanet Resort. Further north, there is the Ti kaye resort Dive center at Anse Cochon, near Anse la Raye.

Kite and wind surfing is offered by Kite Surfing St Lucia at Cas en bas beach in the North, and at The Reef  Beach Cafe and Kite surf Center at Anse de Sable right next to the International airport in the South.

Kayaking & paddle boarding can be done  at The Reef in Vieux Fort and at Sugar beach in Soufriere. Kayak St Lucia and Jungle Reef Adventures are based at Anse Chastanet resort and also offer diving and mountain biking. DFH Kayaking offers tours out of Marigot Bay.

Parasailing, Water skiing and Jet Skies are more difficult to find, unless you are staying in Rodney Bay or at a resort which offers it.

The Splash Island Waterpark at Reduit Beach in Rodney bay offers fun for the whole family.

There are many Boat and Catamaran Tours offered, here are just a few: Mystic Man out of Soufriere and Nerv’s Catamaran out of Laborie (book through Coconut Bay or your hotel) Endless Summer cruises, Spencer Ambrose Boat tours, and Hackshaws boat Charters.
