The Almond Cottage offers 2 bedrooms with two separate bathrooms, a kitchen and a large open living area/veranda. The master bedroom offers a king bed and beautiful semi-outdoor shower. The second bedroom has two twin beds which can be put together. A baby cot can be placed in either bedroom. Almond is located near the main plantation house and the Calabash cottage, shaded by Flamboyant and African Tulip trees and surrounded by tropical palm trees. From almost every angle of the large open living area, you have a view of the garden. The walls and ceilings of Almond are painted white, adding to the bright, tropical and breezy feel. The kitchen offers a full sized fridge, gas stove and oven. The large covered veranda offers a dining table for 8, and three suspended swinging lounge chairs – one of the many popular features of this cottage.
Please note that all our historic and newer accommodations are built in an eco-friendly, open and tropical style, with no screens or air conditioning, only mosquito nets. Balenbouche is best for adventurous travelers who are comfortable with the outdoors, do not require resort style amenities and are looking to experience true island life.

The story of Almond
The site of the current building was originally the location of the estate’s chicken coup. A simple 2 room living quarters for staff was then constructed in the 1970’s. In the early 1990’s, a kitchen, second bathroom, and large covered veranda were added. Over the years, various improvements have continuously been made, including structural repairs, better furniture and fixtures, solar hot water, and high speed internet.
Future renovation plans include a new roof and ceiling to create more height and accommodate ceiling fans, as well as tiled floors, and a roof over the small back deck.
