Secluded St Lucia vacation cottages set within a nature heritage site, retreat venue, organic farm and family home.

The retreats here are amongst my favourites and I have been many times. Balenbouche provides simply furnished cottages, great food and excellent yoga instruction – all set in a stunning location full of waterlily ponds, majestic trees and organic planting. There is a rustic chic quality to the accommodations and an obvious eco-sustainability ethos and vibe. Balenbouche is a very special place, hidden down a quiet side road, somewhere you want to remain a secret.

Two private black sand beaches with protective high cliffs will make you feel like you’re the only people on earth. With the Pitons and Sulfur springs only a short 20 minute drive away, we had no shortage of things to do.”

I spent 8 wonderful days at Balenbouche. I can truly say that here I found my ‘happy place’. My beautiful cottage was clean and airy – no need for air con here. The meals I ate were nicely presented and very nutritious, using locally sourced produce. The bread with breakfast, baked locally in a wood fired kiln, was the best I have tasted!!! Within the grounds there are great walks, giving access to the diversity of flora and fauna and also to the fascinating ruins of the old sugar  mill. There are 2 beaches within a 10 minute walk, and I was the only person there. Uta, Verena and Josh made me feel like part of a family – a fairly rare feeling when you travel solo.
Balenbouche is a gem and Gods willing, I will return next year.
