st Lucians love to
party, and every month of the year is filled with an activity or
event. st Lucia's Calender of Events offers something for everyone, ranging
from Christmas to Carnival to Creole Day, and from Calypso and

Outside of the national holidays and events, there are several nightclubs,
restaurants, cafes and bars in the north, the Rodney Bay and Gros
Islet area. The rest of st Lucia offers numerous local clubs, beach
and street parties, and of course the popular village “rum shops.”
Many Hotels and restaurants have live entertainment on specific nights.
One of the most popular st Lucia night venues for locals and tourists
alike are the weekly street parties / fish fry's which are held in
four different locations around the island; Gros Iset, Anse La Raye,
Dennery, and Vieux Fort. |

Anse La Raye (Friday night)
Every Friday night, the centre of this traditional fishing village just south
of Castries is closed to vehicular traffic, and various booths offer a wide
selection of seafood. Visitors can walk, sit, eat and talk comfortably. A traditional
orchestra that performs on the village square and there are also two local
discos for those who want to dance. The atmosphere is festive yet casual and
relaxing and offers an authentic taste of St Lucia village life.
Vieux Fort (Friday night)
The Vieux Fort street party (Swaye Vieux Fort) draws a predominantly local crowd,
and the food vendors specialize in typical creole stews and curries - here, you
can sample dishes such as goat and rabbit. Live entertainment is followed by
a DJ later on in the evening. |
Dennery (Saturday night)
Dennery is a fishing village located on the picturesque East coast of st Lucia.
The Saturday night fish feast, which takes place right on the beach, offers
a great selection of fresh fish. The event is very local and authentic.
Gros Islet (Friday night)
Gros Islet Night on Friday evenings has been happening for more than 16 years.
Every Friday the barbeque grills are brought out onto the sidewalk and glowing
coals start sizzling beneath chicken and conch kebabs. The bars down Gros Islet's
main street are usually full to the brim with a mixture of visitors and st Lucians.
Speakers set up on street corners keep the audience hopping with a variety of
Caribbean rhythms. One word of advice before you go: dress casually and leave
valuables at home. |

Gaiety Entertainment and Convention
Center
The Gaiety Convention Center on Rodney Bay is st Lucia's largest
nightclub, which also organizes exhibits, concerts, theme parties,
conferences, and more. The venue offers over 8000 square feet outdoors
and 16, 000 square feet indoors. The outside patio on the second floor
is equipped with full service bar and fantastic views of the sea,
garden, and Pigeon Island, a st Lucia National Landmark. The main
floor has a removable stage that can be rearranged to suit the occasion.
This floor also accommodates a main bar, an outdoor bar, and a food
court.The entire area is enclosed by gardens with large terracotta
pots and soft footpath lighting.
