St Lucia Attractions Overview

The island is known for its diverse landscape and multitude of st lucia attractions and things to do to suit every taste and wallet. Many of the best st lucia attractions are in the South of the island, within 15 – 30 minutes from Balenbouche Estate.

There are many St Lucia attractions all throughout the island (see comprehensive list below). It takes about 2 hours to drive from North to South. The main road mostly follows the coast, and the whole loop takes about 3 hours. The best way to see the island is to rent a car. If you prefer to drive shorter distances, consider staying in more than one place. Below is an overview of most of the sites, attractions and activities on the island, organized by route and distance. Some link to the individual attractions and businesses, some link to blog posts.

Do I need a local Guide for all St Lucia Attractions? Is it safe to go without a guide?

Most sites and trails have local guides on staff and charge an entrance fee of $5 – US$ 15 per person. Sometimes you can pay to enter without a guide. Many other places require advance booking and charge more. The entrance to the Forestry trails is US$ 10, if you have your own transportation. Some other hikes cost US$ 50 or more (for example Gros Piton, Petit piton, Mount Gimie, or other specialized rainforest and birdwatching tour). Many of the organized tours include transportation. However, you can cut costs if you rent a car and arrange to meet up with the guide.

The entrance and guide fees go towards maintaining the site, providing employment, and ensuring a quality visitor experience, including education and safety.
