St Lucia Attraction: Balenbouche Estate

st lucia attraction laborie beach

Laborie Beach

Balenbouche is located in the beautiful and authentic South, between the Hewanorra International airport in Vieux Fort, St Lucia’s second largest town (20 minute drive), and the town of Soufriere (30 minute drive), with its signature st lucia pitons and sulphur springs. Although we are a highly rated st lucia attraction, we have kept our authenticity and off the beaten path charm characteristic of the south of the island.

Nearby, the Laborie fishing village with its calm, palm fringed bay is a must-see for Balenbouche guests. Enjoy a magnificent view from Morne le Blanc just above Laborie. To the north of the Balenbouche St Lucia Attraction, just a 20 minute drive away, is the Saltibus trail and waterfall.

Further south, Vieux Fort is the best place for grocery shopping, banking and the Saturday Morning Farmer’s market. The Anse de Sable beach, a short walk or drive from town, is one of the longest and most beautiful st lucia beaches and offers wind surfing, kite surfing and horseback riding. Stop at the Reef or Island Breeze beach café for a drink and bite to eat, and meet other visitors and locals. Above Vieux Fort, the Moule a chique lookout opposite the lighthouse offers another spectacular view of the island and the St lucia Pitons.

In the opposite direction is the village of Choiseul with its beautiful church and traditional arts and crafts. Follow the main road to Soufriere, or take a short detour along the coast past la Pointe Carib, an old Amerindian settlement. Anse L’Ivroigne, a beautiful secluded beach at the base of the Gros Piton hiking trail is managed by the community of Fond Gens Libre. The road reconnects with the main road near Fond Doux Estate, the Tet Paul Trail, Ladera Resort, Hotel Chocolat, the Sulphur Springs, Coubaril Estate with Hot wire zip lining, Malgretoute Beach, the Pitons waterfall and Sugar Beach.

In and around the town of Soufriere there are many restaurants and sites.  A famous St Lucia attraction is the Diamond Falls Botanical garden, as well as New Jerusalem Hot springs, Toraille Waterfall, the Edmond Forest and En bas Saut rainforest trails, and the famous Anse Chastanet snorkeling and diving beach near the Jade Mountain resort.

Finally, a visit to the capital Castries, Rodney Bay, and the Pigeon Island St Lucia Attraction completes your tour of the  island. Along the east coast, you can stop at Mamiku Gardens and Latille waterfall, and the Descartiers Rainforest Trail. On the West Coast road, Marigot Bay and La Plas Kassav are worth a stop. If you have time, you can  swim and snorkel at Ti Kaye Resort/Anse Cochon, or experience the popular Friday night St Lucia Attraction; the Fishfry in Anse La Raye.

Every May, St Lucia hosts an Annual Jazz Festival, a signature St Lucia Attraction which brings together a wonderful mix of  regional and international talent.
