The natural beauty, as well as the architecture, artifacts and design
elements at Balenbouche offers inspiration for artists of all types. Most artists paint outdoors or in the garden gazebo, and a studio (the historic cotton barn, 800 square feet) is also available. st Lucia and Balenbouche Estate also offer great opportunities for photography.
The Choiseul region, in which we are located, is known for its traditional craft such as basketry, pottery and straw work. Visit our st Lucia Art and Craft page for a listing of craft outlets and examples of local products.
We are working on a number of ways to promote the arts and to bring international artists together with local artists. Some of the activities taking place or envisioned at Balenbouche include:
Art courses taught by universities and private art schools at Balenbouche
Workshops and retreats for international and local artists
Group projects and exhibitions
Creating artwork to be integrated into Balenbouche landscape (ie. a sculpture garden, or japanese stone garden)
