All inclusive: The legal details
Applications to marry are made through a local lawyer to the Attorney
General, who issues the marriage license following a two day residence
for the couple. The Attorney General should receive the application
at least two working days before the license is needed. It is therefore
possible to be married on the fifth day after arriving in st Lucia.
Foreign documents must be translated into English.
Passport or Birth Certificate. If either part is divorced, a Decree
Absolute. If either part is widowed, death certificates of the deceased
spouse. If a name has been changed by deed, full proof is required.
If one of the parties is under the age of 18, evidence of parental
consent is required in the form of an affidavit stamped by a notary
public. All official documents must be translated into English by
a certified translater.
